Kern grid · 17th Street · tempo height

Tempo writes an arc. Center-of-gravity height has to follow it.

Cg Height is a 17th Street bench. We do not pick a head because a poster looked low. We read the tempo arc a player actually writes in valley heat, then we match CG height so Westside dust stops turning a slow arc into a balloon.

Why an industrial rail

A poster CG is a sticker. A tempo arc is a shift.

Players arrive with a low-CG story they liked in a catalog. Kern heat does not read stickers. It reads whether a slow, high arc has a CG that will not balloon in 105-degree air, and whether a fast, flat arc has a CG that will still get up over Westside dirt clods.

Slow and high, fast and flat, and the sticker in between

Ozzie Merced times the arc with a cheap metronome and a stubborn camera. Paloma then reads CG height on a rail and matches it, or she refuses a fashionably low head that turns a slow swing into a pop-up.

Notes from people who left a sticker at the rail

Glen timed my arc and it was slower than any catalog I had believed. The low head I loved was a balloon over Stockdale. We raised the CG. The heat got bored.

Paloma Ruiz · Oleander

They start at 6:30 because the heat is honest then. I was annoyed. Then I saw what my two o'clock swing does to a slow arc. I was less annoyed.
